This Week's Sports Stars 

Soccer - Gareth Povel

Gareth Povel – Year 10 - has made the Canberra/Goulburn/Wagga rep soccer team to play at the NSWCCC Soccer in Coffs Harbour. There were a number of trials run to make this team, and with such a large area to select from, this is a wonderful achievement. 

Gareth plays first grade for Tathra on the weekends as right wing. He has played representative soccer for the far south coast for 6 yrs, and Kanga cup for 3 years.  His Favourite soccer team = PSG

 

Gymnastics - Samantha Tondering

Sam Tondering - Year 10 - will be representing NSW in the National competition for Gymnastics/Acrobatics in Melbourne next week. Her name is Sam Tondering.  Sam trains at least five evenings a week. It's an elite sport and to get to this level is an extremely big achievement, especially living in this region of the State. It's her second year running to get to this level. Most of the athletes that get to this level are from Sydney. Sam is extremely quiet about her achievement. Her partner for acrobatics is Pipi Keogh who is a student at Pambula public school. Pipi will be a student at Lumen next year.   We wish both Sam and Pipi all the best in Melbourne.
